Last of the Summer Wine April 5, 2011

Title: The Barmpot and the Skoth
Author: Gary Merchant
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 3152
Characters: Fourth Doctor, Foggy Dewhurst, Compo Simmonite, Norman Clegg, Howard, Marina, Ivy, Nora Batty, Pearl, K9

Perfectly in keeping with both shows. This is funny and charming and a light romp across the Dales. It really wouldn’t seem surprising if the Doctor had actually popped up like this in Summer Wine, somehow.

The Good Life February 7, 2011

Title: Curtain Twitcher
Author: carawj
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 375
Characters: Fourth Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, Margo Leadbetter, Jerry Leadbetter

Great little ficlet with a twist. (Where’s the next part, please?)

Blackadder February 2, 2011

Title: Getting the Boot
Author: johne
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 997
Characters: Samantha Briggs, Jamie McCrimmon, Second Doctor, The Duke of Wellington.

In an alternate universe where Sam went with the Doctor and Jamie, they run into Blackadder’s version of Wellington. Funny, fun and with happy Sam/Jamie fluff, too.

Spaced October 9, 2010

Title: Smash It (Zombies and Time Lords Remix
Author: golden_orange
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 2207
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Tim Bisley, Daisy Steiner, Brian Topp, Mike Watt

In a variation on the theme of The Lodger, the Doctor turns up on the doorstep of the main characters of Spaced, shortly followed by zombies from outer space. This is huge fun, whether or not you know the crossover, and Eleven’s character is spot on, and it’s all very entertaining.

Red Dwarf September 24, 2010

Title: An Infinite Number of Roads to Dallas
Author: EllieLaBelle
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1937
Characters: Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Dave Lister, Arnold Rimmer, Cat, Kryten

The Doctor was said to be at Dallas in 1963. So were quite a number of other time travellers, including a certain gang who were only in search of a decent curry. This is brilliant, from the Hitch-Hiker-esque intro on time travel, the nods to other time travellers who were also hanging around, the Doctor’s reaction to the Dwarfers’ current plan and the ending. Another example of a fanfic author making excellent use of a throwaway line from an episode.

Title: Smokin’ Kippers
Author: JJPOR
Rating: PG / Teen
Word Count: 6156

It has Ten, Donna and Ace Rimmer in it. It’s brilliant. Go read.

Title: Laundry Mad
Author: vvj5
Rating: All ages
Word Count: Drabble
Characters: Third Doctor, Kryten

There’s only one thing Kryten wants from the Doctor.

Carry On Films March 6, 2010

Title: Carry On Up The TARDIS!
Author: Gary Merchant
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 6030
Characters: Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon, Zoe Heriot, Daleks

This is quite bizarre and ridiculous and winds up being a Dalek-filled rerun of Carry On Up the Khyber. Much fun, and I’m kind of relieved not to be alone in this ‘cross’ anymore. (I think).

Little Britain November 22, 2009

Title: Little Gallifrey
Author: Nix Nada
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1789
Characters: First Doctor, Susan Foreman, The Master, Sixth Doctor (?), Omega, Lou, Myfanwy, Tom Baker

Utterly bizarre, but very amusing. And properly short snippets to prevent it becoming too much of a stretch in each case.
