Doctor Who fanfiction crossovers recs & more

Buffy July 20, 2011

Title: Ten Trips Still To Be Taken
Author: atraphoenix
Rating: All ages / PG
Word Count: 3114
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Drusilla

It’s an odd combination, but it works, and the use of Drusilla’s POV gives us the Doctor and his travels in a new light. Beautiful, and clever, and sinister.

Title: Apocalypse: The bird in the box
Author: Calapine
Rating: PG / All ages
Word Count: 3276
Characters: Harry Sullivan, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Sergeant Benton, Liz Shaw, Rupert Giles.

A dark and Doctor-less UNIT AU crossover, which is very well-written and not without hope. It’s also an especially good Harry story – well-characterised, and not an imbecile.

Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy September 8, 2010

Title: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Surviving a Dalek Invasion
Author: atraphoenix
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 1038
Characters: Alan Jackson, Maria Jackson, Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Trillian, Marvin, Zaphod Beeblebrox

This is short and funny, and note-perfect, which for a Hitchhiker cross is surely recommendation enough. In which the invasion of Earth is foiled in typical random manner, and there are lots of lovely, amusing throwaway snippets, and did I say it was voice-perfect?

Title: The Recitation of the Daleks
Author: Jessa L’Rynn
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 2559
Characters: Fourth Doctor, Arthur Dent, K9 Daleks

Another fun cross, with particular credit going to the treatment of Arthur’s search for tea (and this incarnation’s ability to stash cups in his pocket) and Arthur giving the Doctor and K9 the answer to the universe.

Star Trek June 28, 2009

Finally, I boldly go into the realms of the really obvious…

The Original Series / 2009 Reboot
(In my ignorance it’s a bit hard to tell which is which in some cases…)

Title: Section 3-52
Author: atraphoenix
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1529
Characters: Zoe Herriot, James T Kirk, Spock.

I think the author’s sumnmary says it all: Zoe couldn’t continue to wander around the bridge in that catsuit. It was Kirk’s job – his duty, even – to get her out of it.

These are both definitely 2009:

Title: Oh, I Beg Your Pardon, We Appear to be in the Wrong Universe
Author: mithrel
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1786
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Martha Jones, Spock

*

Title: A Delicate Destiny
Author: jinxed_wood
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 870
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Spock

I may not be an expert on Star Trek, but I can recognise well-written fic with some good characterisation and a spot of humour here and there and this is certainly one of those.

Enterprise

On relationships.

And a drabble, mainly because it also features Zoe:

Title: A Fair Cop

Word Count: Drabble
Characters: Zoe Herriot, Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon, Jonathan Archer, Phlox, Malcolm Reed
