Dalziel & Pascoe / Reginald Hill July 20, 2011

Title: Untitled
Author: tree_and_leaf
Rating: PG
Word Count: 300
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Andrew Dalziel

I’m not especially familiar with the novels or TV version, but I didn’t have to be to enjoy a very entertaining ficlet. Somehow there’s always something about a TV detective finding he’s got the Doctor to contend with that never grows old…

Stargate (SG1) June 17, 2011

Title: A Jaffa, an archaeoogist and two Air Force officers walk into a library
Author: aces
Rating: All ages.
Word Count: 1289
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, Daniel Jackson, Jack O’Neill, Teal’c, Sam Carter

A lovely bit of fun in which the two teams meet in a library, and there is world-threatening danger and the Doctor and Daniel bonding over bow ties, books and the promise of a visit to yet another library.

The Doctor, not overly impressed by the Gate.

Title: Comin’ Thro’ the Rye
Author: twenty_three
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 139
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Holden Caulfield

Best just to use the author’s summary: A Doctor and a Pencey Place dropout walk into a bar- Eleven meets an sarcastic sixteen-year-old with a very important question.

The West Wing May 13, 2011

Exploration of Remix_Redux 2011 revealed two excellent West Wing crossovers, the original and the remix:

Title: The Doctor for America
Author: krabapple
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 3208
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Joshua Lyman, Leo McGarry, CJ Cregg, Toby Ziegler, Sam Seaborn, Josiah Bartlet, Donna Moss.

Leo has a new assistant he can’t stand. That would be the Doctor. This is great fun, and also a lovely sequence of vignettes of the Doctor snatching an important moment with each member of the Bartlet for America campaign staff.

Title: They’ve All Gone to Look for America (The Doctor’s Note Remix)
Author: pocky_slash
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 3878
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Joshua Lyman, CJ Cregg, Sam Seaborn, Leo McGarry, Toby Ziegler

An engaging and very well-characterised remix of the above, in which Eleven finds time to take each of the main West Wing characters listed on a one-off trip in the TARDIS.

Elinor M. Brent-Dyer – Chalet School April 7, 2011

Title: another time (around the wheel)
Author: thankyouturtle
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 14,377
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Simone Lecoutier, Joey Bettany, Len Maynard, Con Maynard, Margot Maynard, Elise Lepattre, Grizel Cochrane.

A thoughtful, interesting and properly timey-wimey crossover. (So much so I’m unsure whether to say it will only make sense for CS fans, or whether it actually might be easier to read as a CS newbie in other ways). Sort of AU, sort of not. (I did say time-wimey, yes?)

Stargate SG1 March 15, 2011

Title: Crackaboom
Author: Kesomon
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 485
Characters: Seventh Doctor, Ace, Cameron Mitchell, Vala Mal Doran, Sam Carter

Just a great bit of fun with Seven and Ace being typical Seven and Ace and the SG1 team being bemused.

Title: Night at the Museum
Author: dvs
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 12,530
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, Sam Carter, Vala Mal Doran, Cameron Mitchell, Daniel Jackson, Teal’c

This is a nicely characterised straight crossover that yet, true to the spirit of S5 of Doctor Who manages also to be sweet and funny and quirky, with both a spooky museum setting, tea and cake, and a mysterious toaster. What’s not to like?

Bujold – Vorkosigan series December 2, 2010

Title: Electric Blue
Author: Philomytha
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 8223
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, Miles Vorkosigan, Ivan Vorpatril, Emperor Gregor the Great, Illyan, River Song

It’s hard to judge quite a detailed crossover when I know nothing about it, but this was also very accessible, with a nicely characterised TARDIS team (little details like Rory’s choice to stand back, so he’d be available to use his nursing skills to pick up the pieces if / when things when wrong, Eleven’s quirkiness, and Amy’s forthrightness are all well-used here), and if the crossover characters are as well done, then definitely one for fans to catch.
